The Benefits of Statistical Experimental Design for Quantitative Electron Microscopy

چکیده

Quantitative electron microscopy can benefit from an accompanied statistical experimental design. Using parameter estimation theory, an optimality criterion based on the statistical precision with which parameters of an object can be measured is proposed. It is intended to be objective and it depends on object and electron dose, which are usually not accounted for in the literature. The criterion allows one to evaluate, to optimize, and to compare different experimental settings. It is also relevant to making decisions about new instrumental developments.
